What You Should Know About Vape Flavors and Nicotine Vape Juice

If you go to a vape store or look at a vape website, you’ll probably notice a lot of colourful pods, cartridges, and bottles filled with flavoured e-liquid, or vape juice. In e-cigarettes, the juice is heated to generate vapour that users inhale.

What’s in it, exactly?

E-liquid contains a variety of components, including flavour. Nicotine and a range of other additives and chemicals are commonly found in e-liquid. To be clear, e-juice, vape juice, and e-liquid are all words that refer to the same substance and may all be used interchangeably.

Nicotine is present in many of the e-liquids available on the market. This is why vaping is such a good alternative to smoking: you can get your nicotine fix without needing to combust tobacco.

Nicotine also provides a satisfying throat impact, so if this is essential to you, look for liquids with a greater nicotine content. It is for this reason that you stick to the use of verified and approved liquids, to ensure that all the chemicals and additives used are approved for human consumption.

What is contained within the liquid?

Glycerin from vegetables

This sugar alcohol is often used in cuisine as a low-glycaemic sweetener, a preservative, or a texture enhancer to add thickness. (It’s also found in certain moisturisers.) Glycerin is completely safe for consumption, and there are no known side effects from its use. Glycerin is often referred to VG for Vegetable Glycerin, and you will see this term used often within the vaping community.

Propylene glycol

Propylene Glycol is safe for consumption, as it contains the version of antifreeze which is safe for consumption. There are versions of antifreeze out there which are toxic and not suitable for consumption, but of course, these versions are not included within e-liquid. Propylene Glycol is often referred to as PG within the vaping community, and you will see it often. It has been the focus of many fearmongering media stories, but rest assured, the PG found in types of antifreeze are the non-toxic kind and is safe for consumption.

Flavouring

Unicorn Milk, Krispy Krack Doughnut, and Pony on Acid are just a few of the vape juice flavour names. If these names don’t get you curious and excited as to what they taste like, then nothing will! We know that we’d love to try these flavours if we had just heard about them!

Ingredients are typically kept a secret by manufacturers since they are ‘trade secrets’, as flavors are often attributed to specific vendors who will keep demand high through their unique tastes and flavor profiles.

Nicotine

Nicotine is the primary ingredient used in nicotine vape juice. This makes it a perfect solution for those who were originally cigarette smokers, and are looking to cut down or quit. With traditional cigarettes, you cannot choose the nicotine level you intake, ahead of cutting down the number of cigarettes smoked. With a vape device, you can customize the nicotine level that you will be consuming, making it easier to quit. You can start with a lowered level of nicotine, which can gradually be lowered until eventually, a non-nicotine product can be used, before finally quitting completely.
